Chai Latte - New Fragrance Release

The team at Red Hill Candle Co has been hard at work over the summer developing new fragrances for you to try. There is an amazing world of potential with new scents and aromas awaiting to be made. Our first seasonal release for 2020 is our Chai Latte candle, which will be available in both small and large sizes. We know you will just love this luscious and warm fragrance!

History of the Chai Latte

Chai latte originated in the Indian subcontinent. Interestingly, tea was viewed as a herbal medicine rather than the recreational beverage we see today.

Tea was consumed in voracious amounts in Britain but this was not the case in India until the early 20th century when companies began campaigning for tea breaks for workers. Subsequently, Indians began drinking tea the British way by adding small amounts of milk and sugar.

There is no fixed recipe but most chai lattes have six basic ingredients: water, tea leaves, milk, sugar, cardamom and ginger. Today, the Western version of chai latte has a light, sweet taste as compared to the Indian version which is a more herbal and spicier milk drink.

Protip: when ordering this drink in a café always remember to say just chai latte instead of chai tea latte otherwise you are saying tea tea milk!

Our Chai Latte candle has the exotic spice of chai tea combined with a warm, creamy aroma is enhanced by a base of cinnamon and clove and lasting notes of black tea and vanilla bean. It's a perfect candle for the cooler months ahead when you’re wrapped in a blanket reading a good book.

Foods we love to pair with our Chai Latte candle

  • Scones with raspberry jam and cream
  • Moist carrot cake with fresh cream
  • Popcorn topped with a little cinnamon and nutmeg
